About TimeForFunStuff.com

Our approach, in plain English — and who's actually behind it.

TimeForFunStuff.com is an independent buyer's-guide site. We research the internet so you can find genuinely fun stuff to buy and do — without wading through 50 confusing options or ending up with a gift nobody uses. Every guide is built around what people actually search for ("best fun gift for ___", "things to do when bored") and ranked by fun, value, and how easy it is to actually get.

Who writes this

The site is run by Mara Ellison, an editor who has spent a decade writing commerce and lifestyle content for national publications and affiliate publishers. After years of writing "top 50" listicles she didn't personally stand behind, she started TimeForFunStuff.com to do the opposite: short, honest shortlists of things she'd genuinely give a friend — and to be straight about why each pick earns its spot.

Guidelines are simple: we only list things we'd actually recommend, we call out downsides, and we update the most-read guides when prices or availability change. You can read more on the author page.

How we pick

How we make money

This site is reader-supported. Some product links are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That commission is how the site stays free to use, and it never affects what we recommend — we'd rather keep your trust than push a worse product for a bigger cut. A few display ads may appear; they're placed by Google and cost you nothing.

Editorial independence

Affiliate relationships do not buy placement. Products are included because they're good, period. If a brand sends something for review, we say so — and we still only keep it on a list if it earns the spot.

Questions, corrections, or a product you think we missed? Reach out — we read everything.
